Rethinking Plaid

You know that old saying don't knock it until you try it. Well, I can now say that that statement is very true. On my fall trend roundup, I said that I wasn't a big fan of plaid. Little did I know that a couple of months later, I would be wearing a plaid shirt and actually like it. So I guess I should formally apologize to plaid for knocking it before I tried it. I'm truly sorry.

I've been seeing plaid dressed up for the holidays and I've loved the look. I decided to try my hand at the trend using a plaid shirt that was buried deep inside my closet. I love this look for NYE because the rose skirt dresses up the otherwise casual shirt. I also love that this isn't the traditional holiday red plaid. I love changing things up a little.

Christmas 2013

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I still can't believe it's over and gone. It never really seemed like it was the holidays. It didn't help that it came and went so quickly. Anyway, I had a really good day. I ate more than I probably should, but that's okay. I really enjoyed spending time with family and just being appreciative of everything that I have. I wanted to share my Christmas OOTD with you all so here goes.

It's important for me to be comfortable while looking put together on Christmas. This outfit allowed me to be comfortable enough to stuff my face, but I was still put together so that I didn't look like a complete mess. I topped everything off with red lips and a top knot. You can never go wrong with that combination.

What I'm Wearing:
Forever 21 shirt
Target tank
jeans from a local boutique
Payless shoes
Lipstick: Covergirl Tempt

Holiday Nails

I can't believe that today is Christmas Eve and it's my last "12 days of Christmas" post. For the last post, I'm talking nails. I have 5 of my favorite picks for this holiday season and also for the winter season. Read on to see what they are.

1. Covergirl outlast stay brilliant Bronze Beauty- This color has been on repeat for the last few months and it is the perfect color for this season. It's a sparkly silver polish, but it has hints of bronze. The wear is amazing and I anticipate wearing this color like crazy in the next few months.

2. Sally Hansen diamond strength no chip nail color Red Velvet- This is my favorite color for this time of year. It's also my favorite red because it's not your typical holiday red. It has hints of pink in it and I wore this color to death last year.

3. NYC Canal Street- I love this color for the holidays because it's unexpected. It has sparkles and it's a brown burgundy color. I love wearing colors like this because they are the perfect transition into the winter season.

4. Sally Hansen diamond strength no chip nail color Save the Date- This is color I will be wearing for Christmas. I love the purple because it's unexpected, but festive at the same time.

5. Covergirl outlast stay brilliant Forever Festive- I wore this color all last week and I love it. I think it's the perfect holiday red and is classic enough to wear all year round.

That's it for my holiday nail polish picks. I love all of these colors and will be wearing them not only for the holidays, but for the months to come.
Thanks for reading and I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season!

Casual Glam

Taking simple, casual pieces and making them a little more glam has been my uniform this holiday season. I wore this look for a small holiday church gathering and it was perfect for the occasion. A simple sweater dress can become holiday appropriate with the right accessories. I paired mine with patterned tights, a jeweled hair clip, and bold lipstick. In this case, accessories really do make the look.

Sweater dress from a local boutique
Wal-Mart tights

Classic Holiday

Since I don't have any big holiday parties to attend this year, my holiday wear consists of appropriate clothing for casual family gatherings. This look is the perfect combination of classic and simple. It's a festive look, but it isn't too dressed up for spending time with family.

I love that this look can be easily recreated with pieces that you already own.

What I'm wearing:
Sweater, socks, and skirt from local boutique
Payless boots
Jeweled headband from Wal-Mart
